Can we please not be screaming #LockHerUp right now during a pandemic where people incarcerated are unable to take basic precautions to keep themselves safe? We should only be focused right now on releasing as many people as possible to stop the spread & keep people alive.
No! Because no one should be unnecessarily exposed to this virus and there needs to be way less people in jail/prison across the board. Whatever punishment you think she deserves, a possible death sentence doesn't seem proportionate.
Man, if advocating for less incarceration, especially during a pandemic is "virtue signaling," then sure. I'm virtue signaling.
This guy's bio: "Democrats brought C-19 to USA Soil. Any Deaths are on them! The Storm is upon us; Jesus doesn't give a Spirit of Fear. #Draining the Swamp isn't pretty."
Ok. As always. To clarify: When we support pain, punishment, torture, harshness, pre-trial detention, solitary, guilt until proven innocent, death for one--no matter how much we might despise them or think they "deserve it"--we further entrench an unjust system for all.
This is not about her. It's about our society's sickness with a love for incarceration. Even now, as the virus begins to spread in jails & prisons, & my colleagues are fighting to free people round the clock, we're out calling for more jail & prison. Stop.
Ok now this I'm in favor of. Use her ill-gotten gains, hell, all her money, to bail out as many people as possible, buy housing and food, healthcare.
