On 1/22/20, Trump said "We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China. It's going to be just fine."
Here's a timeline.
He held a rally two days later in Iowa. By that time there were 6 cases in 4 states.
On February 10th, he said "a lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat - as the heat comes in." There were then 12 cases in 6 states.
The next day, we had 24 cases in 7 states and the first coronavirus mortality.
We then had 42 cases in 10 states.
The next day he tweeted a denial of having said this. We then had 175 cases across 19 states and 11 fatalities across 2 states.
On March 10th, he said "it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away." We then had 936 cases across 38 states and DC and 31 deaths across 5 states.
At the time, the US had 10 times the cases Mexico has now.
Today, every state and DC has double digits of cases except for West Virginia, which has 8.
Washington only had one case until late February. And New York didn't have its first until the beginning of March.
Time matters.
