1/The absolute key to beating this pandemic is testing to identify any and all positive patients, isolating them until they test negative. This will temporize the pandemic allowing us time to develop therapeutic drugs, study therapeutics in clinical trials, and develop a vaccine

3/ We must test, test, and test some more. We must identify all positives and isolate them until they test negative. We must use technology and track all their potential exposed contacts and test/quarantine them. Social distancing, lockdown, and testing will contain this disease.

Four countries have contained their #covid19 outbreaks: China, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea. The last three did it without closing schools, churches, bars, or any non-essential businesses. They did it without lock-downs and without banning all gatherings. How??
As noted by @tomaspueyo, the core of the most effective #covid19 containment strategies was Test Track Publish: (1) test everyone, multiple times; (2) track every infected person; and (3) publish all the data so everyone knows what's going one. Why does this work?
#covid19 is being spread in large part by people who don't know they're infected!! Every day they infect many other people at work, on their way to work, and while they shop. The only way to contain the virus is to find these asymptomatic spreaders and put them in isolation.

On Testing: Maybe sometime next week the US will be up to 70,000+ tests per day. We need a plan in place to dramatically expand tracking and surveillance testing - we need to look for the asymptomatic carriers. 1/

Thinking about a low cost easy to manufacture home test kit for #Coronavirus. Outline: #Nasal_swab (Q-tip) w/ freeze dried reagents for isothermal #DNA amplification with #COVID19 primers. Colorimetric readout by #iOS or #Android #App w/ #geolocation & #HIPPA compliant reporting.
Read-out would be in minutes - timer in App - read by camera in your smart phone. No other machines. Links to telemedicine groups for positive results. Built in positive control - e.g. no color = improper test, green NEGATIVE, red POSITIVE.

@First10EM I also want to preface my comments by saying that a) it’s always good to see people interested in critical appraisal and b) as a philosophical matter, it’s a good thing for people to demand a high bar of evidence before adopting therapies into their practice.
@First10EM Therefore: I am absolutely fine with inherent skepticism and/or a desire to see very strong evidence of benefit before you think a therapy should be routinely used, and I am not going to make statements about whether the WAKE UP trial actually merits changing your practice.

The absolute key for those directing this, is to avoid direct confrontation on what is really happening. The MO is deny, deflect, accuse and continue the demolition.

This is because they need legitimacy until they are strong enough to go after their enemies publicly.
