CM: Volunteer force will have people aged btw 22& 40. All 941 panchayats will have 200 volunteers each, 87 municipalities will have 500 volunteers and 6 corporations will have 750 volunteers. Govt will pay for their travel expenses.
CM on the mobile recharge scheme: "For those in quarantine, connect with the outside world is important. Right now, it is happening through mobile phones. The state will ensure their mobile phones are properly recharged."
On free rice scheme extension: "Those staying in rented houses were having trouble getting free rations through the public distribution system. So by noting their Aadhar card nos, they will be given free ration."
A night after it was announced, Kerala has begun the food-on-call scheme in some parts. CM said that 15,344 ward level committees have been formed for the scheme and 715 panchayats have set up helplines. Pvt hotels have donated 800 kitchens for the scheme.
Kerala will also take strict action against discrimination of migrants. CM: There are some reports of migrants being ousted from their houses. They should be given food and shelter, not ousted. Have asked dist collectors to resolve such complaints immediately.
Kerala has also readied 69,434 beds in 879 pvt hospitals for emergency sit. 5,607 of them have ICU facilities. Another 716 hostels with 15,333 rooms also readied. 1,640 doctors retired after 2018, to be tapped. Each dist to make a list of people above the age of 60 for extra care
