/ In honor of @realdonaldtrump’s claim that he’ll be announcing “fake news” awards, here are the American Oversight awards for the most corrupt and dishonest members of the Trump administration: bit.ly/2mJubN8
/ Nepotism Award: Ivanka Trump, for her unprecedented role as both first daughter and senior White House advisor, and her continued use of personal email after she joined the administration. (Runner-up: Jared Kushner) bit.ly/2DlnCfd
/ Industry Insider Award: Scott Pruitt, for his blatant use of his position to benefit the industries he supposedly regulates. (Runner-up: Mick Mulvaney in his role at CFPB.) bit.ly/2BbcN9t
/ Take Your Spouse to Work Day Award: Ryan Zinke, for bringing his wife on multiple official trips, including international travel to Norway and Greenland on military aircraft. (Runner-up: Steve Mnuchin) bit.ly/2DfE10k
/ “I Have No Recollection of That, Senator” Award: Jeff Sessions, for consistently and repeatedly insisting that he has no memory of his well-documented meetings with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign. (Runner-up: Kirstjen Nielsen) bit.ly/2mQHSuG
/ Attendance Award: Betsy DeVos, for taking so many half days and long weekends that, if she were a high school student instead of Secretary of Education, she would be held back a year. (Runner-up: Ben Carson) bit.ly/2Dqd2m8
/ And the one we’ve all been waiting for, the Lifetime Achievement Award in Dishonesty: Donald Trump, for telling more lies, more often, and more brazenly than any president in memory. bit.ly/2BbT3T2
/ Yes, the “Fake News” awards are absurd and a distraction from the widespread misconduct across the administration, but it is important to reiterate that this type of pervasive lying by the president is not normal, must not become normal, and should not be tolerated.
/9 We’ve spent the past year investigating and exposing the Trump administration’s corruption and conflicts of interest, filing more than 600 FOIAs and 20 lawsuits, and we’re going to continue working even harder to hold them accountable in 2018.
