/ Welcome to Tuesday in the independent republic of Brexitlandia hence forth known as Omnishambles Day
/ The EU27 published their phase 2 negotiating directive. I say "negotiating" but by this I mean "final position"
/ We learned that for the transition period the UK will continue to pay into EU budgets and accept EU laws without representation
/ We learned that unless the U.K. can magic up a solution to Ireland then when the Great Capitulatory Fudge that is the phase 1 report is made legally binding the U.K. will comply with SM and CU rules in order to avoid a hard border 🙄
/ We learned that Liam Fox will have to report to the EU if he wants any deals signed 🤡🤡🤡
/ Brexiters say Brexit is about taking control of our money, laws, borders and trade. Remarkably they are delivering the exact opposite 🦄🦄🦄
/ Not only are Brexiters reducing the ability of UK citizens to work, study and live in the EU by introducing a blue passport, it turns out a new passport will be more expensive. Imagine paying more for less 🤤bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-42…
/ But fear not, not all those who support Brexit will be trapped on Brexit Island 😡😡😡amp.ft.com/content/110f57…
/ But those stuck on Brexit Island they can look forward to higher energy and less of it parliament.uk/business/commi…
/ It almost makes one think there should be an energy poverty observatory. Maybe the Government can claim the EU one as their own
/ But the GOV would no doubt misconstrue an energy poverty observatory as a fun day out where you can watch the poor freeze
/ Still for those who doubt the GOV means well, there is this waste. To be clear I mean the money spent for no return and not Liam Fox obviously 😜m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/liam-fox…
/ If you think that is wasting tax payer money then maybe you would like to know what the European Research Group has been spending your money on 🤔opendemocracy.net/uk/adam-ramsay…?amp=1
/ You what? You mean to say while I work all day and then pay tax some MPs are using that for their own agenda but with no transparency and accountability, all to pursue their own ideological wet dream?
/ Why are they doing that? Well they hold all the cards and by cards I mean money in offshore bank accounts.
/ Well well well. You mean to say they are not acting in the national interest? But we have a strong services economy, the world need us more. Well, ahem amp.ft.com/content/5bc84a…
/ Oh, so if that is the case maybe we should think carefully about our trade negotiations with the EU. What would the impact be if we got it wrong?
/ Well funnily enough the 2016 impact assessments by GOV said we would be worse off. Oh but that was project 👻
/ Indeed it was. So much so that the GOV lied about its impact assessments which it did as part of its Brexit planning. They lied about the existence and content of such assessments because they are afraid that if they did the assessments again Brexit would still be 💩
/ Well someone thought they should do an assessment and here is a summary of the latest project 👻buzzfeed.com/amphtml/albert…
/ You mean to say that if we go to WTO terms we will be 8% worse off, FTA 5% worse off and EEA 2% worse off?
/ That percentage is a % of GDP. EU membership is 0.5%. So the best worst case scenario will cost us 4 x our current deal? Yup, you know the one with all the opt outs, voting rights, rebate and veto on treaty change and new member states?
/ What the fuck are we thinking? That sounded like a great deal, even for eurosceptics and we pissed all up the wall because a domestic political party that does not really exist anymore said it would be a good idea😱🙄🤤
/ Well why does the Maybot not show some leadership and make the case for at least staying in the SM and a CU? Well according to DEXEU evidence showing we are worse off cannot be used to make the case for not making ourselves less worse off because that "would be embarrassing"
/ And even though you the people voted to make yourselves poorer and more isolated, you cannot be given the information the Government has which affects your future in case you change your mind 😤
/ Especially when you reread the Government leaflet before the referendum and realise it said nothing about the GFA, or the risk to energy and medicine, said nothing about the destruction to democratic process in the U.K. and ...
/ said nothing about GOV having no plan before the vote, no plan when it triggered a 2 year clock and no plan 18 months after the vote.
/ Some may say that not being given all the information at the time of the vote makes for an ill informed decision. Some may say wilfully hiding information to make a better decision about your future is theft
/ And it is. Brexit is nothing more than the theft of your future at your own expense. Still at least we have jam 🍓🍓🍓
