First thoughts on quick read of Mueller indictment of 13 Russians, 3 Russian entities. 1) Troll campaign began in 2014, before US candidates clear, but goal was always to a) disrupt system and b) mess with Hillary. ow.ly/Qm8D30is6j1
2) Disruption/anti-Hillary goal led to focus on Trump, but also to lesser extent on Cruz, Rubio, Sanders, Stein. 3) Russians spent very little by US political standards--$1.25m/month at end in $2.4b campaign.
4) As with Facebook ads brouhaha few months ago, hard to know if/how effective this was. Still, look for some Dems to push notion that Russians built enough Stein support to throw key states to Trump.
5) Never any indication Russians thought Trump would win; goal was always to mess with Hillary, first Candidate Hillary, then President Hillary.
6) Immediately after Trump won, Russians organized both pro-Trump and 'Trump is NOT my President' rallies in NYC. When Hillary was favorite, Russians sought to sow discord. When Trump won, Russians sought to sow discord. Disruption.
