On the heels of a terrible quarter, #VW bigwigs finally starting to notice that their house is on fire.
"Future competition with #Tesla's new Gigafactory will be brutal...
A Model 3 is built in 10 hours, more than 3 times as fast as a VW ID3." businessinsider.de/wirtschaft/kam…#Volkswagon, like all other #legacy#auto companies, have been resting on their laurels and very slow to accept (not counting attempts to sabotage it) the #EV revolution that Tesla has set in motion.
The question for them, and others:
Is it too late to survive?

Of 15 #Republican candidates for Secretary of State (the office that oversees #elections), in 5 battleground states,
10 lack confidence in the 2020 results or flat-out claim it stolen.
Only 2 of 9 interviewed acknowledged #Biden as the legitimate winner. reut.rs/3EKY6fd
In 2020, #Trump, and #GOP legislators, not only undermined trust in elections, with false claims repeatedly debunked, they told partisan state legislators to send electors for Trump in states where voters selected Biden; a blatant rejection of #democracy.

We need to talk about just how corrupt we've allowed #democracy in #America to become, to the point it isn't democracy in many respects. And we need to stop #partisan squabbling and get to fixing it before we end up a one-party state, like #China. Thread👇 on.theatln.tc/0OHoWpT
In 2019, writing the decision for Common Cause v. Rucho, Chief Justice Roberts closed off the federal courts as an avenue for addressing partisan #gerrymandering, instead telling citizens to propose state constitutional amendments.
First #Trump refused, now #Pence has. OUR PRESIDENT AND VP ARE BOTH REJECTING DEMOCRACY. WAKE UP!!
The correct answer, in #America, #Pence, to "what would you do if your #president attempts a dictatorial coup," is "I would pitch his authoritarian ass out the White House door myself."
Dodging that question is damn near as good as #treason.

"I just want the record to show" #Pence "never answered the question" about how the #Trump admin. would make insurance companies continue to cover people with #PreExistingConditions (because they won't) when Trump overturns the #ACA in court.
That said, #Harris and #Biden should answer. Why does anyone think it would be wrong to increase the court seats when the #GOP leaves it unbalanced 6-3? The courts are supposed to be impartial, not partisan. If #Barrett gets appointed, #Dems absolutely should add until it's even.

After the #senate gave up on stimulus, offering an emaciated $0.5T, #Trump is desperate for a deal to win voters. After starting new negotiations, low-balling, calling it off, then calling it back on when stocks dropped, he's bumped his offer to $1.8T. axios.com/mcconnell-trum…
Unfortunately, it's all ultimately pointless, as it would still have to go through the #senate and #McConnell still says a stimulus deal is "unlikely in the next three weeks," even going so far as to call economic relief for starving #Americans an ”extraneous issue.”

#Waymo, #Google's self-driving vehicle division, announced they are expanding access to their fully driverless taxi service in Pheonix, beyond the current exclusive set of early adopter riders. They plan for the entire fleet to be driverless #soon. blog.waymo.com/2020/10/waymo-…
Waymo uses a local solution, mapping an area extensively and using GPS and Lidar to navigate.
At the same time, #Tesla is saying that their alternative approach, of using camera-vision and advanced AI neural networks to allow their cars to travel anywhere, is making strides.

In an interview, #Trump called for his political opponents – #Obama, #Biden, and #Hillary - to be jailed, relating to 1,000 pages of unverified documents rejected by both #Dems and #Reps on the Senate Intelligence Committee as Russian disinformation. mediaite.com/news/trump-cal…
The spurious documents suggest Clinton personally tried to “stir up a scandal” against Trump by “tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the DNC,” and that Obama was aware of her actions.

The FBI thwarted a plot by a Right-wing militia to violently overthrow the gov., kidnap Michigan's Democrat Gov. Whitmer, and submit her to a "trial" for treason. They echoed Right-wing media propaganda in calling her a "tyrant" for mask mandates. detroitnews.com/story/news/loc…
The conspiracy included visits to her home and training with firearms and explosive devices. The plot mainly involved six Right-wing conspirators rebelling against virus precautions. But it goes beyond that.
