Power Ministry has directed CERC to undertake the process of market coupling in a timely manner.

BIG Negative for IEX - this will potentially take away IEX’s moat of being the most dependable platform price discovery.

Market Coupling means a uniform market clearing price for buyers and sellers in all exchanges operating in an area.
Market coupling is the process where the collected orders from all the power exchanges are aggregated together and then matched to discover a uniform market clearing price.

Neil, talks about value of cash and how fund is absolutely fine holding cash. Had 28% cash almost in 2018.

The returns would be lumpy. Minimum 5 years if not more

Underperformance is guaranteed in short term, so is volatility.

Over long term, the returns are satisfactory
Do you have a process or plan to invest. The fund prefers to follow their own plan. Circle of competence about 500 stocks.

Can't Chase / pick up all opportunity.

I recall, last few years their were question on some Spanish companies like Zara or Chinese companies.

How to interpret #ROE ( Return On Equity ) ?

Short Thread With Examples 🧵🧵

Like & retweet for better reach ! Image
1) We all know that Return on equity (ROE) is the measure of a company's net income divided by its shareholders' equity.

2)It basically tells us how efficiently a company is at converting its equity financing into profits.
3) But it's very important to understand different drivers of Return on equity (ROE). Return on equity (ROE) is driven by three factors- net profit margin, asset turnover & financial leverage.

Hi Nishant, I wrote a detailed thread on why I think it can fail. While any setup can fail, but obviously some are more failure prone and some are less.

We were taught to measure base in 2 ways - depth and duration. These are the key factors which differentiates a (1/n)
flat base kind of setup from larger bases like CNH and W Bottom, VCP as pattern etc.

According to WON, a base can qualify for a flat base if it is 4 week long and upto 15% deep. But WON himself says that Flat Bases are weak bases - they work better when they emerge as a (2/n)
base on base kind of thing.

Why Flat Bases are weak - think upon it. The answer lies in the Wyckoff's Law of Cause and Effect. Larger the cause, bigger the effect it will produce.

When I started reading WON's book - something which attracted my attention was - the book (3/n)

My understanding of #CDSL #IEX and #Saregama & #Tips 🎵🔌⚡💻

Can #CDSL & #IEX reinvest the earnings in the business ? These businesses won't need much cash to grow.

#CDSL have market linked revenue so business will have some cyclicality. Opportunity size is huge
1. Revenues are not linked to market.
2. Excellent business model with super high margins and ROCE and it don't need any capital to grow.
3. But govt regulation can be a double edged sword which keeps the competition away but also can kill you.
4. Big opportunity size after MBED
#Saregama & #Tips
1. Unique business model.
2. No or very less cost for incremental revenues (For already acquired copyrights which don't have royalties)
3. No cyclicality in business (Like CDSL)

There is a lot of buzz around the likely issue of bonus shares by #IEX . Except for offering tax efficient dividend to existing shareholders, issue of bonus shares add little to no value to the investors who want to make a fresh buy. Here's why. A short thread 🧵! Image
Issue of bonus shares can be considered as a tax efficient way of rewarding shareholders by paying dividend in the form of bonus stock. The bonus shares are issued from the reserves of the company. They are issued in the ratios of 1:1, 2:1 etc.

The CMP of #IEX is 798.45. Imagine you are an existing shareholder who holds 10 shares of IEX. The value of your holding is 7,984 Rs approx. Let us assume that the board decides to issue bonus shares in the ratio of 1:1.

In a recent interview with Udayan Mukherjee, the big bull Rakesh Jhunjhunwala made an interesting bold statement - "I think nobody has read the Electricity (Amendment) Bill. Once it passes, it will be bigger than 1991 reforms."

A thread🧵dissecting the ongoing Power reforms 👇
In summary, the Amendment Bill 2021 says:
⚡️ Delicensing of state monopoly- open to competition
⚡️ Consumers can choose discoms (like telcos)

⚡️ Easy resolution of disputes
⚡️ Right to 24x7 electricity
⚡️ Rewarding consumers shifting to solar

India's is the 3rd largest consumer of electricity. But also one of the most inefficient (measured via AT&C losses - electricity that is generated but does not reach intended customers)
