One of the most important factors of a program like a Federal Job Guarantee or Medicare for All is that they cannot be "budgeted" for as programs like the #FJG are automatic stabilizers that rise and fall based on economic triggers that put them into play. Similarly with #M4A
If a pandemic sweeps through, a Federal Medicare for All would simply make payments and the costs would be irrelevant to the population.
Same with a Job Guarantee. If there is a downturn in the economy, triggers like unemployment would propel people onto the Federal Job Guarantee. Budgeting is irrelevant. It ebbs and flows based on the macroeconomic state of the economy at any given time.

The Job Guarantee is a built in automatic stabilizer that, instead of just propping up unused commodities actually steps in and backstops labor minus the politics. Federally funded, locally administered automatic community stabilizer and a job as a right. #MMT #FJG
Enabling real geographic and class mobility. Baked into the DNA of the nations laws, and institutions, women trapped in bad marriages would have the ability to move forward with confidence, leaving abusive situations and landing on their feet with a #FJG... Free to move about.
Now... Add in the idea of free college and eliminating student debt and expanding social security and a Green New Deal. A better world is possible.

People who think that @BernieSanders gets us closer to @AndrewYang's vision for America don't actually understand Yang's vision for America: A Thread

#YangGang #EndorseUBI
#Bernie2020 #NotMeUs

(1/16)
First of all, #Yang wants a unified America. One where there isn't a huge political divide and so much hate and conflict. He doesn't alienate anyone.

#Bernie is incredibly divisive and angry and will only cause tensions to rise if given the nomination or the presidency.

(2/16)
The #FederalJobsGuarantee goes against Yang's vision because #Yang wants to redefine work in an age where jobs are being automated away and where work that has intrinsic human value isn't being recognized by the market.
#FJG#UBI.

Let me tell you what is absolutely apparent to me right now in this election cycle:

1. The #MMT community has a helluva lot of work to do because economic illiteracy is going to kill us all while we wait for light bulb moments for far too many so called Progressives
2. The #UBI vs #FJG fight was never understood, the impacts poorly circulated. Alternative media failed to bother to learn, presuming to know shit they were out of their depth to speak to. The MSM and establishment greedily advanced neoliberal policies and the masses are asleep
3. The word "socialism" is still weaponizable and is being trotted out by establishment @TheDemocrats to some effect. They are redbaiting & propagandizing all manner of evil and far too many will attempt to unify a neoliberal message which means we all die from #ClimateEmergency

Thought experiment as an #artistforyang:
Let’s say I’m a 23 year old painter straight out of college.
Moved to NYC to follow my dream.
Oh no, rent is crazy!!? $1,100 for THAT? How am I going to afford this? With all other necessities, I need MINIMUM $2000/ month to survive!
With @SenSanders #FightFor15 min. wage:
I immediately pick up an office job. Restaurants pay less now, because servers have to report more tips to tax to hit the 15$ threshold.
I work full time at 40 hours/week, and make about $1700 / month after taxes.
Still not livable.
I pick up a part time job serving for that extra needed income. I work that job 12 hours / week, and make an extra 200/week.
Yay! Let’s get some cake, I’ve made enough to survive!!
....crap - I have no real time to paint now.

I understand why #YangGang and #Bernie supporters don't get along.

1) @AndrewYang trusts people, whereas @BernieSanders trusts institutions. This is vital. Hence the #FreedomDividend puts $$$ directly into people's hands but #FJG/$15 makes people go through institutions for $$$
2) Yang is inherently capitalist, Sanders is inherently socialist. People who support Sanders want to totally upend the system. Us #YangGang want capitalism to work for us.
3) Yang has spent his entire career in the private sector, as opposed to Bernie who only has (extensive) govt experience. So Yang looks at #FightFor15 and thinks "This can hurt small businesses" and Sanders discovers that its hard to run a business. cnbc.com/2019/07/25/for…

I’ve been accused of being “sexist” for choosing to run against @KamalaHarris in 2022. This is my response to those claims;
1) I am a gay, black male who detests identity politics and everything it stands for. I do not want anyone to vote for me on the basis of either factor.
2) I am running against @KamalaHarris because it is my right under the U.S. Constitution. I am a United States citizen, who is a resident of California and I am exactly 30 years old as of this post.
3) Any differences I have with @KamalaHarris will be on the basis of policy as much as possible. That does not mean that my team and I will not hold her accountable. An elected official who should be comfortable with her constituents holding her accountable or she should resign.

A thread about moving the Overton Window:

The reason conservatives took control of government was through fear. Fear is the anticipation of negative consequences, activities, and thoughts.
The opposite of fear is hope: anticipation of good actions, policies, and change.
America lost hope because liberals stopped pushing policies that led to more hope and instead only tried to #resist policies from conservatives rooted in fear.

My team and I have been working on a bill for about a year. We’ve kept it quiet but I like to call it the “Alderman-Ramirez Criminal Justice Act” or #ARCJA. It will be a comprehensive Criminal Justice Reform package that will include at minimum the following and @KamalaHarris...
(2)...we hope that if you do defeat us in our election in 2022 that you will consider introducing this bill;
A- Funding for bodycams for all officers in US
B- Citizen advisory boards in all departments
C- Independent investigations of all police shooting-related fatalities...
(3)...D- Financial incentives for departments to begin using #communitypolicing models such as the one overseen by @GayleforCA in her time as mayor of Richmond.
E- Funding for police outreach programs like those out on by @ClovisPolice_CA and @Visaliapd...

Macroeconomics never really mattered to me in either grad school program I completed because I truly thought the US Government had to borrow money from private banks & that the economy was dependent on the private sector. Then I was able to #LearnMMT & now I know its on Congress!
It all came together once I learned the very basic foundational truth that there are currency issuers and currency users. #LearnMMT
That the currency issuer could never go broke on debt denominated in it's own currency... unless their was a commodity peg (like gold) with convertibility associated with it. #LearnMMT
