NOW: Trump reads statement, cleaning up Helsinki debacle (room goes dark in middle!): I had a great meeting with Putin. Really interesting in so many different ways. The press covered it badly. Once again, full faith and support in our intelligence agencies. I have full faith. 
Somedays I feel like we're living in the sequel to Moon Over Parador. Trump just said he "misspoke" and left out a "NOT" in Helsinki! He said he meant to say "I don't see any reason Russia would NOT be" behind interference. This gaslighting gets more ludicrous and stupider daily.
Trump didn't misspeak. Just bad gaslighting. That line came after a string of conspiracy theories deflecting from Russia, then he said Putin denied it, and only then did he say "I don't see any reason why it *would* be Russia"—even emphasizing WOULD. Watch
That was a truly pathetic putting-lipstick-on-a-pig show in the WH. Trump thinks reading a forced & false statement written for him by freaked out national security staff will erase the debacle he created in Helsinki w/ Putin? He publicly sided w/ the enemy! The damage is done.

(🤯never ends) Trump crossed out key line in written remarks prepared for him to clean up his summit debacle where he sided with Putin's denial on Russian interference. He added "There was no collusion" and deleted "Anyone involved in meddling would be brought to justice." OMFG
