There are three "seasons" in book publishing and the biggest one is in the fall. That means galleys for the new books are circulating now. I devoured a galley version of great new book by Scott Belsky over the past 24 hours that I will review shortly before it ones out.
The new book by @eladgil was published by Stripe (the payments provider) so they probably didn't feel that the book seasons idea made much sense. I reviewed High Growth Handbook today on 25iq.com. Next week my blog post will be about Michael Batnick's new book.
The new Howard Marks book "Mastering the Market Cycle" is out October 2nd. What books have you preordered or are waiting to buy when they come out? publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/in…

"Companies can lose a lot of money in their early years but be wonderful businesses if they are acquiring customers with long lives and strong variable margins."

But some businesses just do the losing money part. A critical skill is knowing the difference between the two types.
Customer-based corporate valuation (CBCV) = valuing a business on a "bottoms up" basis by valuing the customers. In a subscription business especially, this is an essential process if you want to understand if real value is being created despite a lack of current GAAP earnings.
"CBCV isn’t about being profitable from day one. It’s about variable profitability in net present value terms (while still being mindful of fixed cost overhead of course!)" Determining whether a specific business is a delicious cheesecake or a turd requires detective work.

#New PA cong. map increases D chance of winning the House majority by 4%. They only need a 6.8% generic ballot margin now (down from 7.7) to be favored.

Diff. will be closer to 10% in Nov when uncertainty from polls is ⬇️. Redraw is a very big deal.

One major reason the new PA map is such a big gain for Democrats is that it solidifies, not just tips, PA districts in Philly burbs. Also creates one additional vulnerable R district. (Easily seen in this map made by @JMilesColeman)
My forecasting model will have new PA map in the near future. This is not just a simple switch; it’s a coding redesign, restructuring of input, & drawing new geographic files. Takes a while (for me, a student).
