Have wanted to write a post about my recent tweet regarding Christianity and racism but haven't been able to. So if you'll give me a sec...here are very brief thoughts.
The implications of how we view race and ethnicity and how we treat our neighbor has far greater impact on a person's faith and view of Christianity than we could ever imagine. What we say and do could have eternal consequences.
People have done atrocious acts in the name of Christianity and we have to work hard not to only keep history from repeating itself but also preach a louder, better story. The gospel has power.
My heart has grieved many times as I've read responses to me. Our history (slavery and more) has left such a sting that people cant help but tie it to Christianity. Jesus is better! He was never the problem, we are/were.
I have many other thoughts but just know I'm praying for every person hurt and carrying the pain of our past and present. Jesus says come to him. I'm coming to him and he invites you to also.
