What Papadopoulos is alleging is that several allied intelligence agencies which Americans trust every single day—we trust them to be key partners in ensuring our national security, and therefore we trust them with our lives—BELIEVED PAPADOPOULOS WAS A SPY earlier than we thought
2/ We need our great reporters to start reporting on Papadopoulous' weird public confession, which has played out on Twitter for days now—he may think being the subject of surveillance in April '16 makes him a hero, but I'm pretty sure it more likely means he was a foreign agent.
3/ Two possibilities:
98% chance: Allied intel agencies believed Papadopoulos had infiltrated the Trump campaign as a foreign agent, which all the evidence we have SUPPORTS.
2% chance: Allied intel agencies used Papadopoulos as a patsy against Trump, which NO evidence supports.

4/ My read: George Papadopoulos suspects either Flynn's sentencing memo, Mueller's report, my (and others') books or all three are going to portray him as an Israeli or Russian agent, and so he's pulling a Trump by trying to prematurely denigrate his investigators. It won't work.
5/ @GeorgePapa19 says Mifsud stumbled across him in Italy but in fact they worked for the SAME ORGANIZATION. Doesn't that sound to you like Papadopoulos found a Kremlin channel himself—rather than one finding him? Doesn't that make him sound like a foreign agent? That's his fear.
6/ Just so, if Papadopoulos was in touch with Mike Flynn at *any* point before his official hire by Trump the chances he was a foreign agent RIGHTLY being surveilled by allied intelligence agencies goes up over 90% *immediately*. He's scared of *that* possibility getting out too.
7/ I would argue that Papadopoulos' false claims on Twitter are *so* telling they're among the biggest news in America right now, as they offer a glimpse for the first time at the very real possibility that Papadopoulos was a foreign agent *before* his hire by the Trump campaign.
