over time i have only learned more and more that america means nothing good to me, and a history where it was never created would unquestionably be a better one for the entire earth
there is nothing here that would not be better if it hadn't been created under our designed-to-be-awful society. i would give up everything I know to go back in time and prevent this nation from forming.
the best moments in my life were scraped from the ashes of a dying civilization in a nation founded on murder. everything "good" that we've accomplished was matched by other countries, usually better. america provides zero value to the world.
the only thing i like about america is some of the people here, and we all know we are not special and that our personalities would have existed in any other timeline, sooner or later.
those of us who would never have come to exist are the ones who forged a powerful personality out of suffering and hardship, and if you believe in souls, their soul would have had its day anyway with a lot less misery in any other timeline
i used to say i believed in america and wanted to see it improved, not destroyed. that was never true, i realize. i just don't want everyone living on this continent to continue suffering. "america" is not its people, and never was.
we are not americans, because america was never ours. the US is a small group of wealthy bigots; the peasants who have fed and clothed and housed them for three centuries were never part of it. there is no meaning to "US citizen." it carries no value or meaningful identity.
Yes, I could leave, but everyone can't leave, that's not possible. This continent can't just be abandoned by 180 million people, and it would just fester into an even worse and more threatening fascist state.
This doesn't change anything, really. But it's important, to me, to recognize that I have no attachment to the identity of "american," and nobody should want to have any. It's meaningless at best.
