It’ll be foolish for anyone to vote any candidate solely based on the size of their businesses or number of employee. Leadership & entrepreneurship are not the same. One is designed for profit the other is purely a service of the competent to create opportunities for all.
Running a successful business doesn’t necessarily make you a good leader or a promising President. A lot goes into leadership of a nation as complex as Nigeria. Avoid the fallacy of generalization and misrepresentation. Management experience is a test of responsibility.
It shouldn’t automatically mean you are fit to be president. Business is not run on sentiments but red eye aim to break even and satisfy the desires investors even if the customers are not pleased. Running a country takes more than the business drive. It is not a monarchy.
Same goes for those brandishing CVs on their toils and experience on the Job. Tame your Ego and understand that leadership in this sphere goes beyond what you know or can do personally. Your ability to create a platform that others can find expression in matters more.
Your success will be measured by the progress of the nation and the fruitfulness cum security of the people who gave you the mandate. So you can see the impact of mendacity and broken promises on your quest already even before you start. You’ll be shackled by public opinion.
Nigerians are wiser and we are closer to a Revolution than ever. The campaigns must not be driven by rote rhetorics but by genuine strategic communication and engagement that shows your intent and means to achieve them. The truth is your greatest weapon. Use it. #BeWise
When we say we need people with private sector experience, what we mean is that we don’t need any leader who will treat the country like civil servant treat their jobs. We are talking capability, competency, accountability, transparency, passion, commitment and responsibility.
Business is a going concern that works on templates. Leadership is fluid and must never be rigid in order to be sustainable. Leaders must be open to learn, unlearn and relearn. They must listen to the people and do their bidding regardless of what they think is right.
So it is not about making or hoarding money. What is the use of announcing trillions made via revenue when the people are dying of hunger under oppression, rubble of lies, nepotism and non-existent infrastructure and amenities? We won’t make mistakes this time.
