China's spin on the trade truce is rather different from America's. Unsurprising but interesting to see the gap. Three key things. 1-- Threat that 10% US tariffs on China will go up to 25% if no agreement after 90 days? Totally absent from state media reports on the deal so far.
2-- China says it will continue to deepen reforms and open its economy, in line with its 19th Party Congress plan. And in so doing, it will resolve the problems that the US is concerned about. (That is, this is it's own initiative; it's not acting at the behest of the US.)
3-- Adds that US will seek to resolve trade & economic issues that concern China; and that a goal of talks is to remove tariffs implemented this year. Far as I can tell, neither point has been included in US statements. Here's the official Chinese summary: xinhuanet.com/world/2018-12/…
