Mueller team is essentially telling Flynn here (and/or his attorneys) to cut the crap about being hoodwinked into lying by the FBI. They noted he lied about his contact with Russians to the WaPo, VP Pence, Priebus and Spicer long before doing so with FBI.
2/ They also note that then-deputy FBI director McCabe gave Flynn advance warning they would be discussing his contact with Russian ambassafor AND that the FBI gave Flynn "multiple opportunities to correct his false statements."
3/ "When the defendant said he did not remember something they knew he said, they used the exact words the defendant had used in order to prompt a truthful response...But the defendant never corrected his false statements."
4/ (An aside: good luck getting the FBI to bend over backwards like this for you if you ever get in trouble.)
5/ More for the "Cut the Crap, General" File: Mueller team points out that a sitting Nat Sec Adviser, former head of an intel agency, returned Lt Gen, 33-year Army veteran "knows he should not lie to federal agents. He does not need to be warned it is a crime..."
6/ All that said, Mueller team doesn't change sentencing rec for Flynn -- "a sentence at the low end of the guideline range" -- as long as Flynn "continues to accept responsibility for his actions."
