The idea that Obama & Clinton hatched such a plan is ridiculous.

Their relationship was still tense & uncomfortable for both of them until way after she became SOS.

Obama had read @DorisKGoodwin's "A Team of Rivals" over the summer and was inspired by Lincoln's example.

Clinton neither requested nor expected a position in the cabinet. In fact, she admitted that she probably wouldn't have made the same decision if positions had been reversed.

What you're suggesting would have given Obama everything and Clinton nothing.

There was no guarantee that Obama would be reelected in 2012 and, had he lost, the support he could have offered in 2016 would have been minimal.

Your claim that "everyone knew" is ridiculous because I have literally never heard that from anyone.

It also suggests that Clinton had always planned to run again in 2016, which is absolutely untrue.

By every account that matters she was hesitant to run again until she entered the race.

She knew what she would be up against and she dreaded the process.
