Many Remainers have watched Question Time through their hands or not watched at all as this Leave stronghold reinforced the simple messages of Brexiters
It was very disheartening, but not any more
"why can't we just leave?" the audience cried to rapturous applause
Until 6 weeks ago
The tide has now massively shifted. The audiences have pivoted & no one is confidently supporting Brexit
When the Tory MPs lay out their Brexit position the audience groan & shake their heads
When the Labour MPs lay out *their* policy, the audience just laugh at them
Brexit is getting increasingly unpopular as are the 2 major parties (tonight Fiona Bruce gestured to the audience in disbelief as both Thornberry & Cleverly spoke)
Lying about May's deal and all the things it doesn't actually deliver just smashes the government's integrity
Tonight Emily Thornberry did her best attempt to come across as genuine & honest, saying "Labour offer hope", and got laughed at, because she'd just laid out the unicorn Labour Brexit position
