After a few hours meeting people in the Expo I'm back in the conference for @niallgavinuk introducing @trishuhl #T3S3 #LT19UK Niall Gavin introducing Trish Uhl on the stage at Learning Technologies conference
We are being primed to interact with others and learn from each other.... really @trishuhl it is like you are a learning whizz or something. #T3S3 #LT19uk
We are up and about discussing these. Do you agree? #T3S3 #LT19UK Questions on a slide about reasons for learning and development
I am currently wondering where this is going re learning anlaytics. #T3S3 #LT19UK
Ah ha and here we are. What is analytics? asks @trishuhl We didn't get into L&D because we like maths. But is not just data science, which is one part. The other part is decision science #T3S3 #LT19uk
Becoming a data science expert is not required. Only need a working understanding in it. The decision science is how do we craft the Qs we want the maths to figure out. Then how do we turn the answers into insights & recommendations #T3S3 #LT19uk
Behaviourial economics (nudge theory by Richard Thaler & Cass Sunstein) @trishuhl is helping us understand this step by step #T3S3 #LT19uk
Further reading from @trishuhl who is encouraging us to think on this beyond today's session - always a great way to embed learning outside of a session #T3S3 #LT19UK
We are now looking at the Analytics Maturity Model. I love this framework which helps us realise how to get more sophisticated in learning analytics. @trishuhl continues a lovely walk us through practical application #T3S3 #LT19UK
Been trying to get you a good slide image of the model but @trishuhl 's energy is spiling all over the stage. Will keep trying #T3S3 #LT19UK
Best I could do. Love this model #T3S3 #LT19UK Prescriptive analysis model on a slide
And now another model being shared #T3S3 #LT19UK Analysis model shared in a presentation BADIR model
Suggestions from @trishuhl to use our internal data experts or also go to universities who want real business data to work with, so welcome helping you with your data analysis #T3S3 #LT19UK
What are you doing with the data output asks @trishuhl If you are not doing anything with the data.... well, have to say that is a no-brainer. Use it for good or what is the point! #T3S3 #LT19UK
The info is coming thick and fast from @trishuhl here today. She is making this seem like common sense.... or it is simply common sense to use sata to support decision making. Why are we not doing it all the time already? #T3S3 #LT19UK
One reads and one regulates. Which do you want to be? #LT19UK #T3S3 Meat thermometer and honey well thermostat images on a slide in a presentation
And now we have Nest which uses not just ambient data (temperature) but also data it has learnt about you, your home and your behaviours. Data is cool!! 😎 #LT19UK #T3S3
We are used to smart homes and smart data use e.g. Waze or Google Maps helping us to navigate well. Yet we then have dumb workplaces #T3S3 #LT19UK
And now @trishuhl is talking my language. The environments that L&D have where we can gather and review ambient data. #T3S3 #LT19UK
Have to say @trishuhl is slightly blowing my mind with speed at which she can talk about this interesting stuff. It may be just the end of a day Tweeting. Sorry Tweeps for less than speedy tweeting! #T3S3 #LT19UK
Where can we source data? So many environments available to L&Ders. We are exuding data at a phenomenal rate. There is an ethcial dimension, although a lot of it is freely available to answer business or performance questions #T3S3 #LT19UK
Here is the view from Microsoft #LT19UK #T3S3 Quote from Satya Nadellanon data being everywhere
How can you process huge amounts of data in a meaningful way which gets down to how to help specific individuals advance? Social Learning suggests @trishuhl #T3S3 #LT19UK
We are all about to do a challenge together to work through using learning analytics to solve the business problem bit.ly/lt19uk-tuhl1 #LT19UK #T3S3 Weblink for follow up on Learning Tech conference session http://bit.ly/lt19uk-tuhl1
So you can play along at home here are the questions from @trishuhl we are discussing for ten minutes #LT19UK #T3S3 Slide of questions to practise using learning analytics
OK so the weblink is case sensitive! #AlwaysLearning #T3S3 #LT19uk
Pray silence for @niallgavinuk as we head into 'The Bridge' which @DonaldHTaylor invited us all to think about as the bridge from the conference to the real workplace. And the room is talking again #T3S3 #LT19UK
And @trishuhl wraps up inviting us to have the right mindset, right toolset and right skillset for data with a lego based slide. Love it!!! Don't be scared of learning analytics #T3S3 #LT19UK
Love it @trishuhl Thanks so much #T3S3 #LT19UK Lego character about to be stepped on
