According to @jkenney, the UCP is "making arguments in support of the government of Saskatchewan's position". NB: SK's position is that the federal government MUST impose its Ottawa-made C-price across Canada (including in Alberta), not just SK. #ableg #abpoli

It's really remarkable that Jason Kenney wants to reference this article and this report to justify his complete lack of a climate plan for Alberta. For a number of reasons. #ableg #abpoli
1. The report completely ignores the comprehensive approach that Alberta has in place to preserve industry competitiveness for trade-exposed industries, and prevent the "carbon leakage" that it references. It chooses not to address these elements.
1.a. In fact, I'm not even sure that the author is aware of them. The report does not reference the concept of "output-based allocations" even once.

Today, @SPhillipsAB announced that Alberta has created the conditions for 4.8 cent-per-kilowatt-hour solar energy. This news cements solar energy's place in any future scenario of affordable electricity in Alberta. #ableg #abpoli
Really, the only way that solar gets shut out going forward would be a government in denial about solar's part in our lowest-cost mix of electricity, whose members harbour irrational animus against solar or renewables.
Unfortunately, that is on offer in 2019. A few examples as evidence.

So.. tomorrow in #Ottawa, Maxime Bernier will headline a rally against the UN migration compact. The rally is hosted by a bunch of fringe far-right groups that promote anti-Islam, anti-Soros, & 'white genocide' conspiracy theories. Let's take a quick look: #cdnpoli #ppc
Organizer 1: CitizenGO Canada creates rightwing petitions. It currently has a petition calling on Trudeau to hold a referendum on signing the UN migrant compact, saying it is pushed by "Soros" and "globalist elites" to gain "global control." These are classic anti-semitic tropes.
Organizer 2: Canadian Coalition for Responsible Government. Total conspiracy theorists who hold anti-Soros events, say the UN compact is an "evil document" and a "plan" to move "massive amounts of migrants," share content from white supremacists Faith Goldy and Stefan Molyneux.

It's not secret that Jason Kenney has long been a hardline SoCon. Prior to being elected, he had a long career as a speaker on the shadowy anti-abortion talk circuit. /2
That makes him attractive to hardline religious groups that are generally opposed to LGBTQ rights and women's rights (especially WRT medical access). /3
