May today said there would be no race to the bottom on workers rights and environmental standards (although she again provided scant detail). That's great, but it's not as strong as what she has said previously.
Not weakening standards is welcome, but the real issue is what happens when the EU strengthens air quality or recycling or fuel standards, as it will over time.

New Offshore Wind Sector Deal finally arrives and it is pretty unalloyed good news (and not just for the obvious reasons) businessgreen.com/bg/news-analys… BG+
This is an industry that is less than 20 years old and has only been a serious player in the energy mix for 10 years. Now the goal is for it to deliver a third of all our power within a decade. That is a blink of an eye in infrastructure terms.
There's lots of good, co-ordinated stuff in the Sector Deal to help make that happen: skills, supply chain, co-operation, R&D, etc. Sure it would be nice to have a bit more govt funding and clearer auction timetable, but *gestures at everything*

Seriously, how is this happening? Downing Street should face children protesting over climate catastrophe every third Friday of the month, and as @jessphillips suggests children dropped off by parents every other Friday of the month.

1) Options available on #Brexit - thread
To try to help out with understanding I'm going to go for the simplest explanation I can of the options in front of the country re A50, Deals available etc based on my understanding

Here goes
2) briefly to begin with, there are 3 #Brexit options & 2 Article 50 options
Brexit options:
- No deal
- May's deal
- Remain

Article 50
- Revoke A50
- Delay A50

3 routes to Remain
- GE with a Labour Remain ticket
- 2nd Ref with a Remain option
- Revoke A50 via vote in HoP
3) Revoke A50
can be revoked by the UK alone, without agreement of the EU & we go back to the *exact* same deal we have now (rebate, no Euro etc)

However it must be a revoke in "good faith", we revoke because we are staying indefinitely, not as a pause whilst we have a rethink

#Brexit as a concept is increasingly drifting from having anything whatsoever to do with the mechanics of leaving the EU. It is now primarily a culture war and both sides will totally ignore the details except for when they are temporarily convenient.
The consequence of this is that our future relationship with the EU will be just as readily ignored as our activities as a member. They said Brexit would make us isolated, self absorbed and insular but it seems that was always the case and there are no signs of that changing.
As ever the details will be delegated to officials and civil servants while our establishment politics drifts further into its cycle of decline, unable to usefully influence external events making us entirely passive and reactive to events rather than self-interestedly engaged.
