1/Critical to consider the President's relentless flogging of the "invasion" threat particularly when so many in the GOP have asked him to move on; was it about maintaining his leadership in the global illiberal internationale or protecting our nation?
2/Republicans have been essentially begging Trump to move on from the wall since Oct of last year. He's lost the argument w/the public. He lost the votes in Congress this week. And yet he persists. Why?
3/Draw of leading this global illiberal, "sovereign" movement, so deeply intertwined with white nationalism and overt racism, has always seemed so strong, so powerful for Trump. Why? Will posit no greater example of his fealty to Putin/Putinism than this.
4/Trump is more of a Putinist than a Republican. Listen to the way he talked about Europe just yesterday. Language was harsh, angry, the argument completely nuts.
5/Guess my point here is that all this is abt something much bigger than "white nationalism" - it is abt our President aligning himself with a global movement working to end Pax Americana and the primacy of America/the West. Questions abt where his loyalties lie are fair game.
