Many “Russiagate skeptics,” r claiming vindication before even seeing Mueller’s report. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do this because I cover Syria, arms traffic + CW attacks, not Russiagate, but here we go; It’s time for the Mueller mega-thread.

2. While TV news messed up by lowering the bar w phrases like “Russia hacked the election,” vs “Russia conducted a massive intelligence operation to influence the election,” it was actually Trump who drove coverage by firing Comey over “the Russia thing.”
3. The so-called “Russiagate obsession,” is an odd term considering no one was more obsessed w this story than Trump who spoke constantly about the “Russia hoax,” publicly commented on this subject over 1000 times, beginning before Mueller’s appointment nytimes.com/interactive/20…
4. Even according to Barr’s incomplete summary, if it’s to be trusted, we now know WikiLeaks was acting in bad faith, trafficking hacked emails provided by Russia, lying about Seth Rich + exploiting a grieving family. We’ll get back to Wikileaks + Rich.
5. “Russiagate skeptics” mantra was that covering this subject was “Russophobic” + caused unjustified tension w Russia. Stephen F Cohen claimed it created a risk of war. The trouble is, Barr’s memo further implicates Russia. I guess WW3 is still on then?

6. Speaking of Cohen, his hot takes on various peripheral subjects like the Skripal poisoning + Douma chlorine attack have proven to b amateurish + incompetent. By contrast my own early observations on Douma have been validated by a thorough OPCW report.
7. Now back to Seth Rich; Many of the pundits that r claiming vindication from Barr’s minimalist book report strongly pushed the Seth Rich line long after it was debunked. Here is @jimmy_dore w @joerogan talking about this as though it wasn’t right-wing BS
8. Here is Sy Hersh discussing the Seth Rich conspiracy theory in leaked audio that was also posted by WikiLeaks in an act of deception. It’s hardly surprising that alt-right superstar @CassandraRules is tagged in this tweet. Barr’s summary says this is BS
9. Additionally @mtracey has claimed vindication based on a partial summary of Mueller’s report. He’s been taking a victory lap w White Nationalist @TuckerCarlson w/o addressing Mueller’s conclusion that Russia hacked Dems, a reality he’s called delusional
