brexit continues to be unimaginably dumb in the sense that so many people are taking it so seriously when there's really only like two people who need to, but there's this endless chain of spineless wimps beating on the people below them because they're afraid of a mythical Adult
a tiny tiny handful of people are truly invested in the outcome but you can tell that just like any bureaucracy there's like 3,500 people who *think* they could get away with just ignoring it or mocking it but are afraid that their bosses bosses bosses boss will have them fired
there's like graphics being made, and charts, and "What You Need To Know" primers, and all from people who are almost certainly aghast that this is going on and know it's absolute horseshit but are forced to act like it's normal and real
and like, the Trump situation is *similar* but not quite, because you at least get the strong feeling from every source here that this is an exceptional, unpleasant situation, UNLESS they're bootlickers in which case they don't hide their fawning Nazi-esque feelings
basically i feel like i never see stuff from the US just neutrally, bureaucratically describing shit that's absolutely absurd, or not going to happen at all (like the wall)
