1/ 👇 Some data I found particularly interesting from the @StackOverflow Developer Report (insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/2019#bl…).

Thread 👇
2/ ~68% of developers think blockchain tech will be useful for currencies, immutable record keeping, and applications outside of currencies.

80% of organizations are not using blockchain at all. However I'm a little surprised that 20% of organizations ARE using blockchain.
3/ 30% of devs think @elonmusk will have the biggest influence in tech this year. @VitalikButerin is on the list at the same response rate (0.3%) as Larry Page, Richard Stallman, and @AndrewYNg!
4/ 66% of developers rate their skills slightly or far above average! Dunning-Kruger Effect showing up strong.
5/ 53% of women see themselves as slightly or above average, whereas 67.7% of men see themselves as slightly or above average. 🤔
6/ Slicing by gender and years of experience, the data is shows that women are far less likely to over-estimate their abilities. Beyond that there are lots of ways to interpret this data...
7/ Women value diversity and don't care about funding status! Men consider technologies, funding of company, and don't consider diversity when considering a role.

HUGE for startups: Start diverse and outcompete big, non-diverse companies for great female engineers for years!
8/ Chinese, Ukranian, Russian devs are the most optimistic. Western European countries are by far the most pessimistic. Only 41% of French devs think people born today will have a better life than their parents :(
9/ A bit of a surprise for me, @Docker is #3 most used platform by devs! More than AWS or Android. Congrats @Docker team!
10/ haha @ the clusters at the top of the "music for focus while you code."

No judgement, just amusement.
11/ LOL 😂🤣 at this question and the answers
