1. So what are Putin's medium and long term plans? Today we witnessed Putin humiliate Trump. It played well in Moscow but for Americans concerned over Trump's secret Russian dealings it's jarring and does nothing to advance Trump as anything but a threat to our Democracy.
2. Trump likes to meet with Putin to beg money to keep his family afloat about once a quarter. IMO today Trump gave Putin his PR read out and Putin told the participants in Trump's Deutsche Bank loans to fund him. Pretty sure that's how it works. So for medium term things will
3. be as in usual. But what will Putin do if he sees Trump's usefulness ending? I see Putin has four choices. One, he can just roll with it. Unlikely. Two, he can try to help Trump start a civil unrest. I give that a soft 20%. Third he could try to cut his loses and betray Trump
4. even if only by distancing himself from Trump. Putin's best option is to help Trump win again. Avoid crushing sanctions in 2021. That is most probably Putin's play. Putin has to make sure Trump wins. At any cost. @FBIWFO @SpeakerPelosi @SecretService

1. @CENTCOM should put a @USMC expeditionary force at Minaugh airbase. The area is either going to fall to Al-Qaeda or to the IRGC and #Hezbola unless we step in and defend our Kurdish and Arab allies who seek a Democratic Syria.
2. If we're going to Syria to end Iranian influence then we need to take positions Iran is holding against the Turkish backed jihadists. Al-Qaeda and ISIS presence in Afrin puts it all well within the 2001AUMF. @RepAdamSmith @SenJackReed @DefenseIntel
3. It's time for the Syrian nightmare to end. Run all the jihadists to ground. I'll bet Iran would withdraw from the norther Aleppo front if we take over the jihadist guard watch. Iran isn't leaving the Mid East. They live there.

I hope they leave it out of the Gulf. The Med is fine.
A quick look tells me CVN72 was off of Libya last week. Six hours ago an Arabic source reported they had seen Debka report it off the Syrian coast.
If correct, Abraham Lincoln was already on station. Things are very complicated in Syria right now. In particular regarding Turkey. It would not surprise me the carrier is there to evacuate US personnel as hostilities with Turkey that is allied with Iran and Russia are possible.

1. Important piece on Syria and the Russian and Assad regime's goal to sew disharmony between the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the Arab tribes in North and East Syria.
2. I had earlier observed that much of the political unrest occurred not far from the toehold that Russia & Regime established on the east bank of Euphrates at Deir EzZor. I suspected that active measures demonstrations could be projected from that small regime held area.
3. Like Russia did here in 2016.

On their meeting with the Arab tribes in Ayn Isa, the SDC deals with internal conflict by promptly reaching out to seek to work through differences through dialogue. The report points out that the SDC pushed back on Damascus' and Russia's

Well, here's another one, by Buzzfeed, no less. They KNEW that Trump worked WITH the FBI, yet they participated in the conspiracy against him to frame him as the guilty one.

#Putin's opening to this press conference suggests the takeover of southern #Syria by Asad/Iran is a model of U.S.-Russia cooperation that should be expanded, and flatters Trump that his summit with Kim [which Putin very much liked the look of] resolved the Korean Peninsula.
On #Ukraine, Putin hints broadly that the U.S. agrees with him that Kyiv's intransigence prevented Minsk's implementation, and then carefully lets it be known Trump brought up the election meddling, an assist to Trump politically, before of course dismissing it.
