Bingo. Trump hopes that pursuing justice will be too slow and too politically unpopular among the Democrats. He’ll keep doing it until they call his bluff.
As I wrote about Putin many times, Trump’s not a chess player, he’s a poker player. He has a lousy hand, but wins when his feeble opponents fold. It doesn’t take much skill, only a sense of impunity.
And the more Trump’s opponents fold, the stronger his sense of impunity will get and his transgressions will grow. His supporters will also be emboldened if he seems immune to justice.
