Breaking: The Texas House has tentatively passed a bill that will ban cities from partnering with abortion providers on any service.

Critics call the bill the biggest threat to Planned Parenthood this year.

The bill means local governments would no longer be able to partner with abortion providers or their affiliates — even for services like sexual health education and pregnancy prevention initiatives. #txlege #SB22 bit.ly/2Qb2HOM
It would also bar a transfer of goods or services and any transactions that offers an abortion provider “something of value derived from state or local tax revenue.” #txlege #SB22 bit.ly/2Qb2HOM
Abortion rights advocates fear that the bill could even prohibit privately funded programs held on government property, like pop-up sexual health education booths at community colleges. #txlege #SB22 bit.ly/2Qb2HOM
The bill also clarifies that #SB22 doesn’t restrict a city or county from prohibiting abortion. #txlege #SB22 bit.ly/2Qb2HOM
The Texas House must vote on the bill one more time.

Then, the legislation will head back to the Texas Senate because it was amended. If the change to the bill is accepted there, it will be then sent to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk. #txlege #SB22 bit.ly/2Qb2HOM
The bill comes as states across the country are considering a range of abortion restrictions. Read more here. #txlege #SB22 bit.ly/2Qb2HOM
