We live in an age when reading has just about become obsolete. Barr was counting on that when he distorted the conclusions to your report in a televised appearance that left a virtually indelible false impression in the minds of Americans. 1/
Testifying behind closed doors will not allow you to avoid participating in the political arena. A transcript will just be another document that few people will read and that will be vulnerable to Trump’s spin. 2/
The power of televised appearance, first demonstrated during the McCarthy hearings, was made dramatically clear when James Comey’s tv announcement, despite clearing Hillary Clinton of all charges, left millions of Americans with the impression that she was guilty. 3/
More recently, William Barr was able to displace your careful, masterful report with a shameless distortion that utterly misrepresents it. I’ve read the report so I know this. My profession allowed me the time to do this, but how many others have that privilege? 4/
The only way to reach those busy, stressed people for whom Barr’s distortions remain the take-away of your investigation is by testifying publicly. To not do so will not avoid “politics,” it will simply allow the voices of the politically corrupt to continue to dominate. 5/
Like it or not, the medium truly is the message nowadays, in a way that even McLuhan didn’t anticipate. Your actual voice is needed, not for the purposes of political spectacle, but because the message of a dense, subtly argued report like yours is, unfortunately, a silent one.6/
Bring the facts into the public arena. Make them accessible and vivid to everyone. Trying to second-guess and “neutralize” political impact, as Jim Comey should have known, is not possible. I look forward to your testimony!!

THREAD about the insanity of last night’s attacks on Obama:
First, let’s acknowledge CNN’s complicity in turning every policy discussion into a candidate versus candidate square-off, which had them all maneuvering to land the best body-blow. (1)
But there’s another culprit, too, one who never get called out, instead he’s been declared one of the “winners” of the debates. (2)
Let’s remember it was Sanders who conned the Dems into thinking Hillary lost because she wasn’t “progressive” enough, thereby marginalizing (or worse, demonizing) “moderate” & pragmatic positions & who turned HRC’s past into potent artillery for proving his own purity. (3)

What’s missing from the scary reporting that warns Trump may get even more popular votes than last time (due to population expansion in blue states) but win the electoral college? The same thing that’s missing from all the stories about 2016.....(1)
Namely, the huge role of the multi-faceted vitriol—not only via Russian plotting, but homegrown assaults from Sanders and the mainstream media—that was directly SPECIFICALLY at Hillary Clinton, and that turned many Obama voters AWAY from her rather than FOR Trump. (2)
I wonder how many stay-at-home and third-party voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, and PA were inclined toward Clinton BEFORE Sanders, the “email scandal,” the media’s biased coverage, and Russian enhancement of homegrown hostility toward her “changed” their minds? (3)

THREAD: It was odd timing to have my "Please Mr Mueller" piece appear the night before Mueller finally appeared in person, in a nine-minute televised announcement on June 29, in which he emphasized key points from his report. This morning, I added the following note: 1/
The rationale for not making a judgment on obstruction, Mueller emphasized, was not that there was “insufficient evidence” to charge Trump, but adherence to the Justice Department policy that a sitting president cannot be charged with a federal crime. 2/
He also stated that if there had been clear evidence that the POTUS had NOT committed a crime, he would have said so. What Mueller didn’t make explicit was that, contrary to Barr’s spin,he DID NOT clear Trump. He apparently relied on that conclusion being logically implied.3/

1. It is important to remember Mueller acts as the Deep State Fix-It man. His worth to the DS is his ability to act as a wall between the facilitators, their nefarious actions, and the wheels of justice.
2. If cover, time and obstruction is what is needed Mueller is the man to do it. His use of disinformation, manipulation of the media, false testimony to Congress, and hiding evidence is well-documented.

#Thread Venezuela welcomed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, former Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, on June 19 of this year. During her visit, the official met with government representatives, opposition leaders, trade unions and NGOs.
The visit of Bachelet was significant based on the expectation and pressure on social media by anti-chavez spokespersons. 13 days after her visit, the report delivered at the UN was published, where the exclusion of important social and political data predominates.
Despite having first-hand information, offered by the national government, social organizations and human rights NGOs, the High Commissioner deliberately omitted them. The final report is a copy of a copy of the anti-Chavez NGO’s narrative.

Robert Mueller today, in part: "If we had had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so. We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the President did commit a crime. #thread
Under long-standing Justice Dept policy, a present President cannot be charged w/ a federal crime while in office. That is unconstitutional. Even if the charge is kept under seal. The Special Counsel office is a part of the Justice Dept. and by regulation is bound by that policy.
Charging the POTUS with a crime was, therefore, not an option we could consider. The opinion permits the investigation of a sitting POTUS because the evidence and recollections need to be fresh and documents available.

2. The Twitter account has been removed. It's old news. There is nothing discrediting to Mueller's investigation in the fact that the Russians stole the files. If anything, it confirms that, yes, Russians hack.
