After failing to repeal the #ACA in Congress in 2017, in 2/2018, 18 @GOP AG's & 2 GOP Governors Filed a Lawsuit to Repeal the #ACA in the U.S. Northern District of TX. 2/

.@GOP officials claim since #ACA’s individual mandate fine was repealed in 2017 tax law, the mandate can no longer be considered a “tax.” b/c of this change, they argue the mandate is now unconstitutional & the entire ACA must be struck down.

6/2018: The DOJ filed a brief declining to defend the constitutionality of the #ACA Administration asks court to strike down 2 provisions that bars insurers from denying coverage to people w/#PreExistingConditions & allows higher premiums to people b/c of health status. 4/

12/2018: U.S. District Court judge strikes down the entire #ACA in an action brought by 20 states’ attorneys general. DOJ urges the court to invalidate the ACA’s protections for people w/#PreExistingConditions; the judge’s opinion goes further and strikes down the entire law. 6/
