The comments to this tweet cautiously share the feeling, but questions remain: are we just a bubble? Is this just twitter? So let’s look at a couple of newspaper websites to see what’s going on and what preference they give to their country (thread)
Portugal, Correio da manha solid focus on Portugal - correct me if I am wrong...
This surprises me - El país actually opens with the local and autonomies elections.
Le monde somewhat less surprising opens with RN besting LRM
Libre belgique. Waloon parliament. Oh?
Netherlands AD: Euro elections, whole Europe trend.
Luxemburger Wort: EP elections, main article on LX results, but that’s just a liveblog, so maybe that changes quickly.
Germany Süddeutsche: this is how Europe has voted. EP, all EU view...
Austria Kronen-Zeitung (ok, I was doubly curious): EP, with some mixed outlook
Italy Sole24: EP, solid EU view - with current overall results
Poland, gazeta wyborcza. EP elections take the top spot, first focus on Polish outcome.
Running out of battery and time - I apologise for that. Caveat: many of these change several times a day. And what’s my take-away?
First things first: Unless there are special conditions (Spain, Belgium) the EP elections take the top spot in the news. Many sites have running commentary on them - including news from other countries. More often than not, however, the national EP outcome is the first item.
Just to add (I left out the UK as I usually write on the UK, so I expect everyone to follow the UK news anyway): both Guardian and Telegraph start with EP, currently the Guardian focusing on overall exit polls, Telegraph focuses on UK EP issues.
