There are so many lies in this I don’t know where to start.

First off, President Obama *gave* Iran NOTHING. As part of the JCPOA (which was between Iran & the US, China, France, Germany, U.K., Russia and the EU) those countries unfroze assets that BELONGED. TO. IRAN.
Also NOT “GIVEN” was the oft-mentioned $1.8 billion, which was paid to settle a claim over funds the previous Iranian government paid for military equipment in the mid 1970s. We NEVER delivered the equipment and so Iran filed a claim against us in the Iran-US Claims Tribunal...
in The Hague, which was created by the 1981 Algiers Accords.

Why did the Obama administration pay $1.8 billion? Because there was a significant chance the US would’ve LOST and had to pay MUCH MORE.

He declined to do so.
@senatemajldr LATER: @SenSchumer on why he thought @realDonaldTrump / @senatemajldr wouldn't admit that Americans -- not China -- pay tariffs: "I don't know."
AFTER THAT: @ChrisMurphyCT on @realDonaldTrump claiming China pays tariffs: "He's lying -- he's intentionally lying. He knows what tariffs are, he knows that consumers pay them, and he's trying to pull one over on the American public."

I know lots of folks are saying that Fox deserves a debate because the moderators would be reporters like Chris Wallace, Shep Smith, Brett Baier, and they deserve a chance to question Democratic primary candidates.

They are skilled journalists, but their skills aren't the issue.
The issue is that given what @JaneMayerNYer has revealed, it would be difficult, even for people who respect those reporters, to view the organization they work for as an independent news organization rather than an arm of the administration.

I know this from my own experience.
