President Trump's former business assoc. Felix Sater failed to show for his closed-door interview with House Intel this morning; Committee chair @RepAdamSchiff now planning on issuing a subpoena.
The committee wanted Sater to testify because of his proximity to Trump biz dealings in Russia. Recall, Sater once worked w/Michael Cohen when they were considering breaking ground on Trump prop in Moscow. That all fell apart, nothing went through. That said...
Sater is an interesting figure in the Mueller Report, where he was a witness. According to it, he helped arrange trips for Cohen + Trump to go to Russia; Russia had to bless the possible deal. He once wrote to Cohen: 'Our boy can become President of the USA & we can engineer it'
A bit more quick background here - this is the second time his testimony has been delayed. The first time Sater was meant to testify before the committee was back in March but SPC was wrapping up the probe, so it was put off.
