This is the deleterious effect of Twitter. Everyone's motivated to one-up the other's alarmism. There's more virtue the more distressed you present yourself.
This is also my complaint with how the left handles police killings.

A case like Eric Garner could unite the country to tackle police brutality. But when the left describes this as "white cops are out hunting black men" most people get off the train.
Using inflammatory and hyperbolic language only gets people to take you less seriously, and by extension pay less attention to the problem you're trying to raise awareness for.
How we frame problems matters. Cops not getting the right training to id threats and respond proportionately is not the same as large swaths of the police force intentionally looking to kill innocent black people. If you can't agree on what the problem is won't find a solution.
Why are these detention centers in this condition is a question I don't see anyone trying to get an unbiased answer for. Is it negligence or underfunding? Or is it that ICE or Trump are so evil they want these people to suffer?
The single most harmful component of modern politics is that there is much more value in stoking anger, keeping your side enraged than there is in being a solution provider.
Best embodied by the outrage that Joe Biden dared to sully himself by working with segregationists to make progress instead of refusing to engage and keeping himself pure.
What it looks like is detention centers dealing with unexpected numbers of migrants and now resources are stretched thin.

If you're out trying to convince ppl the problem is we're capturing undesirables as punishment and denying them due process, you are not part of the solution
