1) Fellow Flynn Friends, the Sundance report from July 9, was an absolute barn burner.

2) With great gratitude to Sundance for their work, I confess, I cannot follow this entire story in one sitting. Yet, what I already understand is a gigantically important revelation.
3) So, today's thread is 'Part 1' of...I don't know how many yet. All that covered, let's dive in!

The dramatic situation is this. The prosecution wanted @GenFlynn to lie, and attempted to punish him for his refusal to do so.
@GenFlynn 4) Who understands what a FARA filing is? If you read the story carefully, the one person who did not, and who matters most, is @GenFlynn. He HAD to rely upon his counsel in this matter.
@GenFlynn 5) Let's see if we can't figure this out. First, here's the DOJ's website on topic:

justice.gov/nsd-fara
@GenFlynn Linger with the name. Foreign Agents Registration Act.

If you are an agent of a foreign government, you have to register yourself as such. If you're not hearing "technical" you're not paying attention. This is technical stuff. That means...ATTORNEYS.
@GenFlynn So, the first thing we realise is that Gen Flynn HAD to rely upon his attorneys to handle his filing. Whoa! Wait! How do we get to 'his filing?' I mean, how do we know that he actually WAS a foreign agent?
@GenFlynn 8) In a word, trust. Yep. We MUST trust the DOJ, who is prosecuting Gen Flynn, that he in fact WAS a foreign agent needing to register. We must trust, specifically, David Laufman, then head of DOJ's NSD, National Security Division.
@GenFlynn 9) We - or just me - have to slow down. There is thing, a National Security Division, in the Department of Justice. The Special Counselor has chosen to prosecute Gen Flynn, and is also a DOJ operation. Okay.
@GenFlynn 10) And this NSD thing, which controls the registry of agents representing foreign governments, forces Flynn and team to register. Okay. No, wait. But was he ACTUALLY an agent of a foreign government? We don't know. We must trust Laufman. Okay.
@GenFlynn 11) In Part 2, tomorrow, we'll try to get a handle on this Laufman fellow, and his role in all this. For now, the thing to focus on is that Laufman forced Flynn's team to make the filing, under duress. What does that mean?
@GenFlynn 12) It's actually easy, here. Flynn's team was working hard as can be to strike a plea deal with the prosecution. So, using all its power, the prosecution demanded this filing. Should this demand have been acceded to? We'd need @SidneyPowell1 to answer that.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 13) But should or should not have, no matter, it was. And who, exactly, executed this set of technical filings? NOT Gen Flynn. Rather his then representation, who represented themselves as expert in such filings.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 14) If you read the story carefully, you'll see that Gen Flynn only read the cover page, not being competent to read the filings themselves, and under advice of counsel, signed. And wait for it, here's the key phrase coming...
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 15) "Under benefit of hindsight."

Friends, I have been waiting for this revelation ever since his plea deal was announced. There is no way to go too slowly here, because nothing is more important to our understanding.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 16) Let's pull the pieces together now. Gen Flynn confessed to two counts of lying. First, recollecting his conversation with the Russian Ambassador - the one that started everything - he didn't recall discussing sanctions, per se.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 17) But the recording indicated he did discuss them, so with benefit of hindsight he confessed to lying. This is so tricky. Is an error of recollection a lie? It can easily be wrong. But was it actually a lie? With benefit of hindsight, you might call it a lie.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 18) Were the FARA filings 100% accurate in every technical way? When the government tells you they weren't, and you don't know their ins and outs yourself, but you signed the submission, with the benefit of hindsight, you might call it a lie.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 19) I don't know about you, but this is the very first time @GenFlynn's confession has made the slightest sense to me. And, as far as our work for today goes, we're essentially done.
@GenFlynn @SidneyPowell1 20) We'll return to this article tomorrow and glean more bits of truth. For today, the key phrase was "with the benefit of hindsight." What a phenomenal power this phrase gives to the prosecution.

Wow.
