White conservatives: We will kill you. The president has our back.

White moderates: this president is so embarrassing.

White liberals: this guy is racist so let's make sure to get rid of him in two years or so, Kay?

PoCs:
The president is not an embarrassment. An embarrassment is when your mom licks her thumb & uses the spit to wipe the gunk out of the corner of your eye. Or when you walk into an automatic door & hope no one saw you. Not when you put people in concentration camps. That's fascism.
I see a lot of well meaning white ppl in my feed saying they're "embarrassed" by this president. I keep thinking how nice it would B to be embarrassed about Trump rather than TERRIFIED.

Since 2016 I have had more panic attacks than I ever had in my entire life combined. I'm 34.
And no, I'm not paranoid. I'm just paying attention. as a black person with access to social media, I know that Elijah el Amin was murdered for being black. That our president raped a 13-year-old girl. That 4 years ago, Sandra Bland was murdered with impunity. I learned that...
THIS WEEK. I learned that we have brown people in pages in concentration camps on our border and that the people running the camps are in secret Facebook groups creating CGI rape fantasy about women of color. And not a few people. 10,000 people.
Last month I was followed to church by mentally ill white man. After reading about Elijah, I've started internalizing physical fear of white male strangers. For the past 10 days, I have not been able to go anywhere by myself because I start shaking with fear. On Tuesday, I had to
Have someone accompany me to the bathroom to be a lookout. I was at church.

I used to walk everywhere. I easily walked 2 to 3 mi a day. I like walking. It's like running except better. Now I can't cross the street. If I walk more than 300 ft away from my 🏠, I start shaking.
My logical brain knows that most white people I probably not killers, or rapists. But my subconscious mind and my body be like:
It's really scary as fuck to be a black person right now. Or a native American. Or a Muslim. Or a Sikh. Or a Latinx. Or a transgender womxn. Or even a Filipino that just is a little too brown. Or a woman. Or any combination of the above.

Imagine being black & disabled with
A white nurse, doctor, or home health aide. You depend on this person for daily physical needs. But did he vote for Trump? And lots white people say they didn't vote for him now that shit looks so bad but somebody other than dem Russians voted for him so...
Imagine a black trans woman in New York right now, walking and minding your own business and hoping you don't get picked up for prostitution because you have $20. Praying everyday that you don't become the next Layleen Polanco?
You know when you were a little kid and you were finally tall enough to ride the big roller coaster? The feeling that you get right before the drop? Imagine feeling that way all the time.

That feeling is not embarrassment. It is terror. People with marginalized identities are
Dealing with terrorism everyday in this country. Our very bodies are a war zone.

STILL, we keep bravely going to work & school, to grocery stores and banks, drive our cars, have family picnics, take road trips, living life and finding joy as best we can. But we do it afraid.
So on behalf of all the folxs who have to figure out how to face life everyday in an unsafe body, please stop being embarrassed by our president and start figuring out how to dismantle the system of white supremacy that allowed him to rise to power. #thatisall
