A Short Hike is good, but I was not ready for that ending. (Which is also good. I was just not ready.)
@adamgryu Short review: It's an exploration game. No fighting, no injury/death. New mechanics and new wrinkles to old ones are discovered as you go higher, but in a very organic way.

Lots of collectible/lost item quests, lots to discover. Some clever winks at the conventions of the genre.
@adamgryu Reminds me a lot of the sidequest aspects of games like Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, etc. If you like those games but wish you could just be a kid and not have to be in charge of a house or farm or business, this might be up your alley.
@adamgryu Controls... irked me at first, I kept wanting them to be rotation based (as in left and right turn you, up makes you go forward), especially in flight, but once I stopped thinking about it it worked well enough?
@adamgryu A key mechanic is golden feathers, which are used to represent stamina. You expend them climbing or flapping your wings. Until I got one I was afraid they were consumable items, but they function as a stamina bar. You get them back when you touch down.
@adamgryu It's a game with a lot of heart. There was a character I was angry at for what seemed like heartless profiteering, and I vowed to complete the game without giving into his extortion... until I found out he's a college student who is screwed on tuition. Now I'm vowing to help him.
Also it is World Ranger Day apparently, which makes it a great day to get and play this game.
