Tonight #antiELAB protestors are gathering at the Space Museum in TST for a unique form of protest: stargazing. After BUSU president Keith Fong was arrested yesterday for possessing laser pointers, it’s a jibe against police's insistence that these constitute “offensive weapons”. 
It also happens to be 七夕 today, a traditional time for stargazing. AKA Chinese Valentine’s, it’s the one night of the year when the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl—mythical lovers turned into stars and banished to opposite sides of the Milky Way—are reunited by a bridge of magpies.
Come for the laser show, stay for the fight against tyranny. #hkprotests #FreeHongKong
It’s genuinely getting pretty impressive.
There’s definitely a metaphor for the whole #antiELAB movement in the erratic, unpredictable paths these lights take, and how individuals keep pouring in to add their own colour—distinct and yet undeniably part of a greater whole. Someone help me out.
They were all just concentrating their lasers in an attempt to “set fire” to the planetarium, mocking police claims they can start fires. This is the joyous, comedic side of #HKprotests I’ve been missing amid the miasma of tear gas.
They’ve even got transparencies and now they’re doing hand shadow shows of dogs (police) chasing down and biting people! Remember when protests were fun?!

More target practice after a newspaper broadsheet is pasted to the side of the planetarium. Police claims of these “offensive weapons” setting paper alight within seconds may have been slightly exaggerated.

Tonight was something we all needed: no tears, no blood, just laughter, song, and dance. I’ll be revisiting this thread next time I come home with the smell of tear gas still clinging to me and screams ringing in my ears. This is the city we love. This is why we do it.
