This thread is for direct support for the people of HK and their right to autonomy, freedom of speech and rule of law. #FreeHongKong
I didn’t know much about the situation in HK or how nefarious the CCP was in HK. Nor did I know that it was so grave that #POTUS made an Executive Order AND took steps to BLOCK assets of foreign persons who have had a role in destroying HK autonomy. Sounded very serious.

Adoption thread.
15 years ago I was sitting at a baby shower and got the call we had been matched to our daughter. China chooses the child for you. You have no input. I had to race home and wait for the computer to pull up her image to see her. Jaing
Xiao Liao was her name.
It took us until Sept 26 to finally meet her. She was in an orphanage in Guangxi which is in a tropical area of China. By Vietnam.
The orphanages are combined with the nursing homes there.
The day we got her she was very sick. We had to have the Dr come to hotel that night. She had pneumonia. We had brought antibiotics with us from our pediatrician in Colorado and thank goodness. They wanted us to give her tea “she not western baby. She can’t have western medicine”

If you delete this account or tweet my guess is you have provided technological support in the suppression of Hong Kong's right to autonomy, Democracy and Rule of Law.
I believe you can read it in Sec 4, a, iv.

Last week #POTUS signed an Executive Order on Hong Kong Normalization.…
#POTUS declared a national emergency to the threat of the people of Hong Kong and their treatment by the PRC to destroy Hong Kong’s autonomy, freedom of speech and rule of law.
In the Executive Order, Section 4, #POTUS lays out some pretty clear instructions as to what is going to happen to assets of those who are meddling in Hong Kong’s right as a nation. BLOCKED.

🚨 I've decided to put together a THREAD of prominent voices for #HongKong from around the word. Start with U.S. politicians. Note how @RepGregSteube is saying (as I read it) the newly-revealed #HK #NationalSecurityLaw will "threaten democracy around the world." 👇👇👇
[2/n] @HawleyMO: "Question now is whether Beijing will use this as a pretext to jail pro-democracy leaders."
[3/n] @RepJimBanks highlights how the #HongKong #NationalSecurityLaw "prohibits 'collusion' w/ foreign govs or institutions, which could target those who've lobbied the U.S. Congress for sanctions."

| Economia de Hong Kong 🇭🇰|

Nesta thread abordarei como Hong Kong sustenta-se economicamente, quais são os focos econômicos da cidade, a liberdade do mercado e e alguns pontos que ainda atrasam economicamente a península. Segue a thread:

Fair disclosure: In the 90s I was a "welcomer" for #HongKong students at my uni. Overtly we were 🇨🇦 peer mentors. Really we were defending 🇭🇰 students whom the #Chinese & #Communists clubs targeted for #psychological #Terrorism with #Tiananmen gutter-burger pics & rape threats.
As always, I do my best to withhold my politics while teaching - you can construct your own narrative by critical thinking or you wouldn't bother to engage & educate yourselves about espionage - its methods & manifestations; its history & historiography; its fact & fantasies. Yet

Here's the most important part of @realDonaldTrump speech on #HongKong and #China:

"China claims it is protecting national security. But the truth is Hong Kong was secrure and prosperous as a free society. Beijing decision reverses all of that.
It extends the reach of Chinas invasive state secutiry apparatus into what was formerly a bastion of liberty. Chinas latest incursion along with other recent developments that degraded the territories freedoms makes clear that HK is no longer sufficiently autonomous to warrant...
the special freedoms that we have afforded the territory since the handover. China has replaced its promised formula of 1C2S to 1C1S. Therefore I am directing my administration to begin the process of eliminating policy exemptions that give HK different and special treatments.

WHAT IF...#Wuhan is an inverse Theresienstadt? Theresienstadt served an important propaganda function for the Nazis, cynically described as a "spa town" where elderly Jews could "retire" in safety. In reality, it was a collection center for deportations to ghettos/camps.
The Nazis permitted an International Red Cross visit to Theresienstadt in 1944. It an elaborate hoax: the ghetto itself was "beautified" and they made a display of social & cultural events, making it look essentially just like w "Jewish District" rather than a death factory.
My theory: #Wuhan could be a #CCP version of Theresienstadt.
Instead of displaying of how nice it is, maybe they made a hoax display of how devastated it was. We rely on Beijing numbers for #covid19 stats, but in reality we'd never know if it was 20 dead or 20 million.

#China's total exports in 2018 were $2.65 trillion, of which approximately $477 billion went to the #USA, $441 billion went to the #EU, and $157 billion to #Japan. Add #SouthKorea and #India, and that is over 50% of Chinese exports.
China's strong economy depends on the good will of a handful of governments. Gradually increasing tariffs (or economic sanctions) on Chinese imports in these and other like-minded countries and the EU, if linked to demands for: 1) human rights improvements in #HongKong, ...
... #Xinjiang, and #Tibet; 2) military deescalation in the #SouthChinaSea and #EastChinaSea, the #Korea n peninsula, and #ArunachalPradesh; 3) progression down a truly democratic path for all of China; 4) improved conditions in China for global business; and ...

Pretty low key at the moment, rally against hate occurring in front of Wheeler Hall where Ann Coulter is expected to speak.

They are now chanting: “ANN COULTER IS A NAZI”
There is only one small entrance to the front, which appears to be blocked from protesters standing in front of it.

Note: the people standing behind me are screaming boo at the top of their lungs

Actually, Lakers have a pre-season game on Friday against the Golden State Warriors.

Plenty of tickets still available. Would be a great time to send a message...

If anyone in CA wants to organize, there seem to be a lot of people willing to donate for this cause (myself included).

An analysis of the @Blizzard_Ent letter about @blitzchungHS and the #FreeHongKong incident.

I apply everything I know from having been in the leadership team at Blizzard, my legal background, my decades of game industry experience, and my work with Chinese companies.

@Blizzard_Ent @blitzchungHS Blizzard released their official US response on a Friday, well after 5:00pm Pacific time.

At Blizzard, as most places, we posted bad news on Friday's, so that the news cycle would struggle to pick it up.

They went the extra mile and released it after work hours too. Much fear.
@Blizzard_Ent @blitzchungHS The hope is that all reporters are already gone for the weekend, and that other news will break the cycle by then so that Blizzard becomes less of an interesting story, or faded with a little time.

10/01: Within an hour of the #LennonWall being built at Aberdeen Station, pro-CCP Mainland Chinese nationalists are destroying it and intimidating people. Ugly, disrespectful actions.

Part 1:

📍Richmond, Canada.
#HongKongProtests #cansaveHK
Part 2:

(not in video but important situational context) Lennon Wall Organizers and event-goers reported on the telegram group that they are being followed by Pro-CCP people as they leave the event. They don't feel safe.

Police stepped in, luckily. Pics coming.
Pro-CCP people, translated:

"It's our freedom (to be here and destroy the wall)."
"China killed people? Hong Kong killed people. Hasn't Canada killed people too?"
"It's you that started insulting us."
"Doesnt Canada doesn't have problems too?"
"Who hit who? No one hit anyone"

6 days ago I made a Instagram post in support of freedom for Hong Kong. This is a 7 year old art that I've posted many times without issue. The only difference is this time I made the post in support of Hong Kong fighting for freedom against the oppressive Chinese government.
The next day, my post was removed for "hate speech". This isn't Instagram's fault. The Chinese government paid attackers to mass report me, thus triggering the algorithm to automatically remove my post. I appealed the removal and my art was restored.
However, ever since that day, I've been shadowbanned as well and I'm still shadowbanned. No doubt due to the same abuse of report button by the paid attackers. The Chinese government have figure out a way to censor and control free speech even outside of their country.

Police banning a march again and again? #HongKongers will not be deterred to speak out again and again.
#HongKongers really don't give a damn whether there is @hkpoliceforce's "permission" to march, you can't silence the voices by suppression. This is Hong Kong, not in mainland China.

To people all around the world,

We, Hongkongers just experienced a terrorist attack planned and executed by our Hong Kong Police Force. At about 10pm today, our police force rushed into our railway system in Prince Edward station, got in to the carriage...
and indifferently beat up all the people in it regardless they are protesters or simply passengers. They ignored the weapon guidelines and fired tear gas indoor in the carriage which is in fact lethal. Also, they beat up innocent people causing them seriously wounded...
Some passengers kneeled before them asking them to stop but the response they got were beaten ever harder. Meanwhile, the police haven’t arrested the passengers after they got beaten up, showing that the only purpose of their brutality was to sort their anger to violence but not

Wrap-up about what I saw on Granville St today, as ProHK and ProChina demonstrators faced off, once again.
ProHK organizers kept it very tight: the demonstration lasted a little over an hour.
Both sides had people out in force, tho ProHK had a bigger crowd today./2 #freeHongKong
2) with their people on the west side of Granville stretching from West 16th Avenue to Angus Drive.
I counted about 20 @VancouverPD officers in attendance, with more showing up about midway through the rally. The master of ceremonies thanked the @RCMP for coming, /3 #FreeHongKong
3) though I didn’t note any uniformed officers there. All police seemed to be distributed equally along both sides of Granville Street.
Crowds really didn’t have a chance to get into each other’s faces because...6 lanes of traffic.

Supporters coming off of the Canada line to join their side. There’s enough people to close off the shoulder lane on broadway
