Quite impressive to misrepresent the quote you've embedded in a tweet. @LukensLewis rightly says the question for the UK in a trade deal with the US is how much we're prepared to give to have the US on side. Exactly the right question. No free gifts in trade negotiations.
@LukensLewis At one point in the conservative leadership contest Boris Johnson suggested that the US could adopt UK food standards to avoid the chlorinated chicken controversy, which came as close as anything could to causing hilarity among trade experts. What are we prepared to offer?
@LukensLewis Three years after the Brexit referendum we still don't realistically know what we want or can offer in any future trade relationship with the EU, US, or any other country. On which basis the Government is pursuing a no-deal Brexit. That shouldn't fill anyone with confidence.
