NEW: A Mississippi venue allegedly cancelled a couple's wedding plans after discovering the couple was a black man + a white woman.

"We don’t do gay weddings or mixed race, because of our Christian race—I mean, our Christian belief," a woman says.

I called the wedding venue today to find out why they cancelled the wedding for the interracial couple. A man answered. I told him why he was calling and if refusing interracial couples really is their policy.

"No comment," he said, quickly hanging up.

IMPORTANT: This comes after the MS Legislature passed & Gov. @PhilBryantMS signed 2 "religious freedom" laws—#SB2681 in 2014 & #HB1523 in 2016—making it easier for businesses to discriminate against LGBT people. #MSleg

Supporters said they wouldn't affect interracial couples.
It may be the case that, under Mississippi law, this wedding venue does have the right to discriminate against LGBT couples, but not interracial couples (which is banned by federal law).
A woman told me that this same Mississippi venue turned her down last year when she sought to help find a venue for her best friend, who is a lesbian. She sent this screenshot of messages she says she exchanged with Boone’s Camp on Facebook. deepsouthvoice.com/index.php/2019…
The Booneville Main Street Association has released a statement after a local venue refused an interracial couple:

“We do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender. We are working hard to move Booneville in a positive direction & to grow out city!”
No details, but I do know that the NAACP is now looking into this.
*why I was calling
“If you need to step on the neck of a gay person in order to ‘step up’ for Christ, SB2681 was a great victory for you. For the rest of us, it’s yet one more example of Mississippi refusing to step away from the crack pipe of bigotry...” —Nick Wilgus (2014)

In January, a wedding venue told a gay Texas couple that it would not serve them because their marriage would violated God’s “plan and design for marriage.” #LGBT #RightToDiscriminate

@DeepSouthVoice I updated the story to note that Boone's Camp Event Hall's owner's names are Donna and David Russell. They also own at least one other business per the @MississippiSOS webpage. See @DeepSouthVoice for more on the story.

The Mississippi town where a venue refused to host interracial couple’s wedding has responded, with the mayor & city leaders writing they “do not condone...these...discriminatory policies,” incl. when it comes to sexual orientation. Via @DeepSouthVoice:

Mississippi House Rep. William Tracy Arnold, whose district includes the town of Booneville, voted for the state’s two recent “right to discriminate”/“religious freedom” laws, and co-sponsored the second, #HB1523. More from @DeepSouthVoice:

The woman who said she would not marry interracial couples in this viral video has apologized, saying that after studying her Bible she realized that it never mentions interracial couples. She said she had always assumed “ignorantly” that it did.
