1/ #MoscowMitch and the GOP said today that they intent to wait to act on the gun violence epidemic until Trump tells them what he will sign. McConnell specifically suggested today that the only way to make a law is for the president to sign it.

2/ THIS IS FALSE.
Article One, Clause Two of the Constitution reads, in part, as follows: "Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he . . .

3/ . . . shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated, who shall enter the Objections at large on their Journal, and proceed to reconsider it. If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall . . .

4/ . . . agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law."

5/ The fact that McConnell is intentionally ignoring this clause, which anyone who's taken high school civics knows about, should terrify and infuriate every American citizen. He and the GOP don't want to override a veto because they're cowards.

6/ McConnell has now all but confirmed that he and the GOP don't work for the American people, but for Trump. His CLEARLY intentional omittance of overriding a veto to get a bill passed is nothing less than a dereliction of duty, and it shows that they cannot effectively lead.

7/ The GOP's cowardice is unacceptable, and un-American. They clearly have no intention of helping the people that voted for them. Morality demands that we vote every single one of them out in 2020 because such amoral people cannot be allowed in power. #VoteBlue #VoteOutGOP
