Quite interesting to see the instant U-turn of Boris Johnson...

...to passionately want a deal (Theresa May’s, specifically), want the intense engagement of Parliament - and to threaten no-dealers with the boot. He’ll likely come unstuck.

[Thread]
I remember saying that Johnson will likely go through all the phases that May went through - namely posture hard on Brexit, crow about no deal necessity, earn stripes with hardliners, negotiate, try to drag hardliners into a deal, fail, get extension-

-but at 10x the speed.
.
So here we go again.

Boris, like May, came to internally-selected power... instantly went on to hardline stance whilst talking about abandoned communities.

We are now literally at the Chequers stage because Johnson is inviting hardliners to Chequers to try and sell a deal.
The huge problem that Johnson faces that May did not face is the Brexit Party. This is a much more threatening and capable beast than UKIP that is now ideologically opposed to any deal.

Johnson would be endangered in an election after a deal... and is vulnerable in Parliament.
