I’m gonna say something: quite proud of the UK today.

The USA & UK are in by no means identical but comparable situations: we have administrations with no popular mandate, who gained power on the back of criminally manipulated votes, and who are using criminal methods…

… to retain that power in order to pursue at best unethical and possibly criminal objectives.

But here’s the thing; it’s the *USA* that’s supposed to have the ironclad Constitution with the inbuilt checks & balances, established for the express purpose of containing…

… and thwarting a rogue administration, while the UK has not so much a constitution as a vague gentlemen’s agreement with itself that There Are Certain Things One Simply Doesn’t Do.

AND YET… within WEEKS of OUR unelected charlatan premier getting his hands on the reins…

… of power, OUR constitutional guardians have pulled out EVERYTHING they could against him, to the point where two months in, he’s lost every vote, has no majority and has now been found guilty of breaking the law and *implicating the Queen* in his lawbreaking.

Now ok, he’s still nominally in office and God knows how all this ends, but we Brits, with our vague, notional constitution have fought like bastards to uphold that constitution and defeat what was, is, and may yet succeed in being, a hard-right coup.

Meanwhile…

… in the USA, the land of checks & balances, the land of Laws Not Men, Trump has been laughing his ass off fleecing the country unimpeded for nearly three years, while the media tries to normalise his every outrage and the Democrats handwring about “the optics of impeachment”.

So yeah, basically, go us, and Americans, pull your fingers out save your damn country while you still HAVE one.
