No longer wanted in Downing St: a ditch
The potential latest in a long series of constitutional climbdowns from the govt.
As I wrote yesterday the EU is certain an extension is coming with elections soon afterwards. Given Johnson’s proposals are so suboptimal for them, even compared to May’s deal, there is every incentive for them to sit, wait and bide their time. 
Lots of briefing from Downing St which adverts to another letter being written simultaneously, urging EU not to accept. This is all optics and nonsense. The EU will extend because the only alternative is no deal as the Johnson plans are so far away from being ready/acceptable.
Moreover, the Act specifies that he cannot frustrate the aim of the legislation. If he wrote another letter he'd find himself in court. Contrary to all the silly briefing (and the loopholes Cummings spoke of when he talked to me) it's a tightly/cleverly drafted bit of law.
