Internal UK govt briefing prepared for Theresa Villliers concludes that UK will not be able to resist pressure to massively weaken environment & health standards in pursuit of trade deals post Brexit & this will..”irreparably damage the environment & public health”.

The FT is interestingly also now reporting that Liz Truss & DIT are pressurising UK govt to “accommodate to US asks”.

There’s a lot more info on this subject about to come out.

There’s a very interesting & underreported devolution issue in here too.

Scots & Welsh have devolved SPS powers - this was not so important while UK was in single market - but now outside could see 3/4 utterly different SPS regulated agricultural markets inside post Brexit UK...

It’s not clear that the importance of this has registered with London - that if Scots & Welsh fight new SPS regulations in their areas, how could UK conclude trade deals as a “single agricultural area”?

Looks like Greenpeace are going to publish some documents related to these leaks...
