A wee puzzle: if a) EU mostly lays down min standards for workers, environment etc & b) Gov claims it wants to maintain current rights then i) why does Johnson need power to "diverge" in those fields unless ii) Tories want to drop below EU min standards & iii) Johnson is lying?
ps extra marks for working out how a) EU can be stealing UK sovereignty / dictating our laws, yet b) citizens shouldn't worry their pretty little heads about leaving because the UK has such better rules than the EU anyhow...
Got that one? Bravo. Let's move on to Level 2... How can 1) pesky EU trade rules be to blame for UK not selling more stuff abroad, when 2) other Member States with same rights and duties have much better trade stats with third countries?
And for a Lexity Bonus Point... a) if the wicked EU stops the UK giving state aid to support legitimate policy objectives, then b) how do other Member States with exactly the same rights and duties manage to give higher levels of state aid than the UK does?
