The Fed/Interest Rates
– The interview begins with SD clarifying his position on why he published a WSJ Op-Ed in 12/18 suggesting that the Fed should not hike rates at the end of 2018,
after having criticized the Fed over the previous two years for keeping rates too low.
SD goes back to an argument which he has making over the years ( and argued in the 2014-16 QE2/QE3 periods) suggesting that once the US economy had long overcome the crisis post a successful QE1, the Fed missed an opportunity to normalize slowly but under Bernanke and

I worked with an organization that once had 6 levels of reporting.

There was a CPO, with GMs reporting in, VP of Products reporting into GMs, Directors, PMs, APMs. They tried to give everyone their own product goal.

It did not scale well. /2 #prodmgmt
By the time the goals got to the Directors, they were so granular a solution dictation that there was no room for the rest of the team to experiment, learn, or talk about value.

Just finished Better Than You Know by @mjmauboussin. Definitely one of the best books I have read thus far on investing. FWIW, sharing my highlights.
(1) Perhaps the single greatest error in the investment business is a failure to distinguish between the knowledge of a company’s fundamentals and the expectations implied by the market price.
(2) I defined variant perception as holding a well-founded view that was meaningfully different from market consensus.... Understanding market expectation was at least as important as, and often different from, the fundamental knowledge.
